Wallet Photo

Wallet Photo puts a picture of someone you love in your Apple Wallet. It is built to know as little about you as possible.

What the app stores on your phone

The photos you choose, and the captions, notes, dates and places you add, are saved in the app on your iPhone. Your device backup settings may also include this app’s local data. There are no accounts and no sign-in.

What leaves your phone

When you tap Add to Apple Wallet, the app sends the chosen photo, text, optional dates and places, time zone, and crop settings to our signing server, which renders the pass and signs it so that Wallet accepts it. The server does this in memory and returns the pass. Our application does not persist the photo or pass contents on the server. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical request information, such as IP addresses, request times and response codes, to operate and protect the service. We do not log your photos, captions or notes. Temporary rate-limit counters help prevent abuse.

The finished pass lives in Apple Wallet. Apple may sync it to your other devices according to your Wallet and iCloud settings. If you share a pass, the recipient receives the photo and all pass details, including any note, dates and places you added.

Places and dates

If you add a place or a date to a pass, that information is written into the pass itself so that Wallet can show it on your lock screen. Place searches use Apple’s MapKit service. The app does not request or track your current location. Wallet does that locally, the way it does for any ticket or loyalty card.

Making a pass on the website

At walletphoto.app/make, your photo is prepared in your browser and sent to the same signing server, which handles it exactly as described above. Text you type and your chosen dates and places are remembered in your browser so they are still there next time; the photo is not. Place search on the website uses OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service, which receives what you search for. If you choose “Use my current location”, your browser asks first, and the location is sent to Nominatim only to name the place.

What we do not do

No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers, no selling or sharing of data. The app does not collect data as defined by Apple's App Privacy questions.
